Austrian-German actor, model and entrepreneur Boris Kodjoe has met the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., to discuss potential collaboration on value addition in Ghana’s gold sector.

The engagement focused on strengthening local processing, refining, branding and the global positioning of Ghana’s gold as part of efforts to maximise economic returns from the country’s mineral resources.

During the meeting, both sides emphasised the need to move away from the export of raw gold and prioritise local beneficiation. They noted that increasing domestic refining and downstream development would help boost revenue, create jobs and expand Ghana’s industrial base.

Mr. Gyamfi reiterated GoldBod’s commitment to the government’s value addition agenda, which seeks to ensure that Ghana processes more of its mineral resources locally before export.

He added that the long-term objective is to build a more resilient gold economy that increases foreign exchange retention and strengthens local participation across the value chain.

The discussions also touched on opportunities for international partnerships, private sector investment and global market access to support Ghana’s gold industry reforms.

Kodjoe’s visit is seen as part of growing international interest in Ghana’s efforts to modernise its mining sector and promote responsible sourcing and value addition.

GoldBod continues to position itself as a key driver of reforms aimed at ensuring that Ghana derives greater benefits from its natural resources through industrialisation and strategic partnerships.
