The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, has rejected claims circulating in political and public circles suggesting that former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, is being held in a private facility or benefiting from preferential treatment while serving her sentence.

According to him, the convicted former CEO is fully under the custody of the state and is being supervised by the Ghana Prisons Service.

He explained that since her conviction and sentencing, she has remained in lawful detention and continues to serve her term within the prison system.

His comments come amid growing calls from opposition figures demanding clarity on the exact location where the former MASLOC boss is being held, following her conviction in a high-profile fraud case involving the agency.

The Interior Minister, however, maintained that there is no obligation on the state to publicly disclose the specific facility where high-profile convicts are kept, arguing that such disclosures could raise security risks.

He further noted that revealing detention locations of prominent prisoners could expose them to danger, referencing international practices where such information is tightly controlled for safety reasons.

Mr Muntaka insisted that Sedina Attionu remains in state custody and is not being held in any private residence or external facility outside the prison system.

He also dismissed suggestions of uncertainty over her status, reiterating that a sentenced individual remains under the authority of the Ghana Prisons Service.
