GFA hits Raymond Oko Grippman with five-match ban for violent conduct against Kotoko

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has handed Nations FC defender Raymond Oko Grippman a five-match ban following a high-profile misconduct incident during the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season.

The ruling, announced on April 21, 2026, stems from a violent altercation during a Matchweek 26 fixture against Asante Kotoko SC.

The incident occurred at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 22, 2026, in a match where the Porcupine Warriors ultimately secured a dominant 3-0 victory. According to official reports, Grippman was found guilty of unsporting behavior after committing a foul on Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah.

Following the initial challenge, Grippman deliberately stamped on Amoah’s thigh, an act the committee described as a serious breach of sporting conduct.

The Disciplinary Committee’s official update confirmed that the five-match suspension takes immediate effect, sidelining the defender for critical upcoming games against Heart of Lions and Accra Hearts of Oak.

In addition to the ban, Grippman received a formal warning that any future regulatory breaches would result in more severe sanctions.

This ruling follows a series of strict GFA regulatory actions aimed at curbing violence and unsporting behavior in the league.

Nations FC, currently 11th in the standings, will now have to navigate their next five fixtures without their starting center-back as they attempt to climb back into the top half of the table.
